Promoting Web Sites

I'll provide plenty of ways to find your niche. But first, what is a niche? A niche is a topic or theme that you intend to specialize in. It's what your website, blog or ebook internet home business will be based on.

How do you find your niche? You'll need to do some brainstorming for ideas. The following questions will help you develop a long list of possible niches. Take your time and write down everything that comes to mind - no matter how silly it may sound.

  1. What are you passionate about?
  2. What do you love to talk about... you could talk about it for hours and hours?
  3. What have you learned over the years in the workplace?
  4. What have you learned in all your years of schooling? Were there special subjects you excelled at or were especially interested in?
  5. What are your hobbies?
  6. What problems do you have, that you might enjoy finding the solution for?
  7. What kinds of books or magazines do you like to read?
  8. What did you like to do as a child?
  9. What do you do for entertainment?
  10. What do you love searching for on the internet?
  11. What are your favorite television programs?
  12. What are your favorite sports or sports teams?
  13. Where are your favorite vacation destinations?
  14. What comes easy to you?
  15. What do you know a lot about?
  16. Ask your friends and relatives what they think you're good at. And what they think you know a lot about.

Here are some topics you might want to consider in finding your niche:

Cooking, sports, religion, astrology, dogs, cats, birds, decorating, woodworking, gardening, music, playing piano, playing guitar, collecting stamps, antiques, art, electronics, astronomy, computers, shopping, painting, teaching, exercise, diets, recipes, football, basketball, hockey, baseball, horse racing, gambling, poker, parenting, childcare, childbirth, pregnancy, barbecuing, dog training, cars, trucks, motorcycles, farming, bicycles.

After you get a long list of possible niches, you're ready for the next step... See if any of those topics will make you money. You'll do that using keyword research. Go from Find Your Niche to Keyword Research
